Sonic Wings[]

F14sw1

The F-14 in Sonic Wings.

The F-14 Tomcat's Phoenix Missile can be pretty powerful, especially when the player collects enough power-ups to give it full power. The Tomahawk special weapon calls forth a screen-wide deployment of missiles that strike all enemies; it is especially useful for clearing a screen crowded with enemy vehicles.

Sonic Wings 2[]

F14sw2

The F-14 in Sonic Wings 2.

F-14: Super Sonic Fighter
Loaded with vulcans and homing missiles. A high speed fighter.

Aerofighters 2 English game manual

The F-14 is still a fairly good fighter even without full power. Again, its bomb covers the screen in large missiles which strike all enemies in one of the best bomb attacks in the game.

Sonic Wings Special[]

Swsf14

The F-14 in Sonic Wings Special.

The F-14 is not particularly strong in Special, particularly when it isn't on full power. After a few power-ups, though, it does release useful, enemy-seeking missiles. Its bomb sends several small missiles across the screen which can strike a number of enemies but which are a far cry from the F-14's bomb in Sonic Wings 2.

Sonic Wings Assault[]

F14b

The F-14b Tomcat in Sonic Wings Assault.

The F-14b Tomcat is the best jet for the amateur pilot. It's stable, flies easily, and its armor is strong.

Aero Fighters Assault English game manual

The F-14b is easy to control, and its normal artillery is fairly powerful. As its manual description states, it's a good choice for starting out with the game, which is fitting since its pilot Hawk is meant to be Assault's main character. Its Phoenix Missiles are described as having high honing performance and a long range. The Tomahawk Missiles have homing capabilities as well.
