Gapporin (called Pop'n Bounce in English) is a puzzle game similar to the classic Atari game Breakout; the player must bounce a ball off a paddle in order to knock out a wall of sprites. However, in Gapporin, the sprites are of assorted living creatures instead of bricks.

Gapporin opens as Acorus and Riccia (both named for types of plants) are out stargazing, when suddenly a number of strange creatures appear out of the night sky. Guided by a pixie-like white creature, Acorus and Riccia must drive back the invaders on land, in the sea, in outer space, and in a castle "variety area."

Rabio, accompanied by a never-before-seen blond "Lady," is the final enemy faced in the game. The backdrop of Rabio's stage features an elaborate design centered around an eyeball similar to the eye motif of some enemies in Sonic Wings 3, such as the rival aircraft and Pseudo-Bagarius.
